Indie-pop artist Role Model put on an unbelievable performance in Boston at MGM Music Hall at Fenway with support from Genevieve Stokes. This was the unintended final stop on his U.S. leg of the No Place Like Tour.

Role Model, otherwise known as Tucker Pillsbury, has been quickly climbing the charts in the alternative music scene after the release of his album Kansas Anymore in 2024 and the release of the deluxe edition, The Longest Goodbye, this past February. Tucker, originally from Maine, began his music journey as a rap artist under different aliases in the late 2010s. He then made the switch to singing and a focus on an alternative style of music with his self-released EP Arizona in the Summer. Tucker was later signed to Interscope Records in 2018. Now, seven years later, he is selling out venues across the country with support from thousands of fans.

Boston was eager, to say the least, for his show on Wednesday, having been rescheduled from the middle of March after the singer was not feeling well enough to perform. Demand for tickets was so high, a venue change from House of Blues to MGM Music Hall was even part of the plan! Role Model and his team even went so far as to postpone the start time of the show by 20 minutes due to the number of fans still waiting to enter the venue two hours after doors had opened.
Without hesitation, the crowd excitedly welcomed Tucker to the stage, as he stepped up to the mic in his T-shirt reading “CHILD OF MY MOTHER.” First up on the setlist were tracks from his recent work, including “Writing’s on the Wall” and “Scumbag.” Being a show back home in New England, Role Model, of course, had to ask the crowd how many people at the show were from Maine and how many people traveled a distance to be there. Screaming roared across the floor section of the venue as fans bounced up and down in their cowgirl hats and diva-inspired outfits.

He acknowledged the commitment that his fans make to attend his shows and how grateful he is that so many people take time off from their responsibilities to see him play. Several fans had signs admitting that they skipped an exam or important event to be there. Talk about dedication!

Now, the moment everyone had been waiting for—SALLY! During his shows, Tucker has been known to select a fan from the crowd to join him in his performance of “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out.” This time, his mother was the lucky lady.
A wholesome moment between mother and son, the two danced around the stage, her in a matching black T-shirt reading “NEW ENGLAND BORN AND RAISED.” To end the night, Role Model whipped out one of his most well-known songs, “Deeply Still In Love.” Showered in roses being thrown on the stage by fans, Tucker bid the crowd farewell.
If you couldn’t make it this time around, no need to worry! Role Model will be back in Boston supporting Gracie Abrams at TD Garden for not one, but TWO nights—July 23rd and 24th. Surely a performance that you won’t want to miss
