As soon as I stepped into the venue, I knew it was going to be an amazing show and night. The Story So Far brought an electrifying feel to MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on November 27, setting the perfect tone for the Thanksgiving holiday. The band did not disappoint as they delivered a setlist that fused tracks from their latest album, I Want To Disappear, with classic anthems beloved by longtime fans.

The Story So Far

The night before Thanksgiving—often dubbed “Drinksgiving” or the biggest bar night of the year—gave the show an extra layer of excitement as fans, both local and traveling, packed the venue. The mood was palpable, with the audience’s enthusiasm adding to the atmosphere.

Koyo

The supporting acts, Superheaven and Koyo, were instrumental in building momentum for the evening. Koyo, hailing from Long Island, added a fresh, energetic touch to start off the lineup. Their melodic hardcore stylings and emotionally charged performance resonated deeply with the audience, solidifying their reputation as rising stars in the scene. Tracks like “Moriches” and “Straight North” showcased their knack for blending melody and aggression, earning them new fans among the Boston crowd, including myself!

Their energy was contagious, with the band members constantly moving and interacting with the audience. Fans particularly appreciated the passion and love for the Boston scene that they brought to the stage, showing why they’ve become an exciting name in the scene.

Superheaven, a celebrated force in the alt-rock scene, brought their signature grunge-inflected sound, delivering hits like “Youngest Daughter”, “Next to Nothing”, “Poor Aileen”

Superheaven

and personal favorite “In On It” in such a way that captivated the audience. The band, revered for their contributions to post-grunge and emo revival, reminded fans why they’re considered icons of their genre. The guitar work was on point, with those fuzzy tones and huge riffs that make their sound so recognizable. The vocals carried a lot of feeling, and you could tell the band really connects with their songs.

One of the best parts of Superheaven’s set was the way the band interacted with the crowd.

They kept it casual, cracking jokes and sharing stories between songs, which made the whole night feel more personal. You could see the love the fans have for Superheaven—they were singing along to every word and moshing with tons of energy.

Now….what you’ve all been waiting for……..

The Story So Far opened with “Big Blind,” instantly igniting the crowd. Other highlights included “Letterman”, “Empty Space” and “Proper Dose,” which saw massive sing-alongs, and deeper cuts like “Out of It,” which showcased the band’s enduring ability to blend heartfelt lyricism with raw intensity. Parker Cannon’s vocals were sharp and emotive, perfectly complemented by the tight musicianship of Kevin Geyer, Will Levy, and Ryan Torf.

What set this concert apart was the connection between the band and the audience.

Parker Cannon of The Story So Far

Parker didn’t speak much between songs, a trait fans have come to expect, but his presence was magnetic. The lighting design added depth to the performance, with bright, colorful backdrops during upbeat tracks and moody, dim lighting for the slower, introspective songs. The fans were relentless as well—crowdsurfers, nonstop movement, and an electric atmosphere that made the room feel alive.

As the night unfolded, it became clear why The Story So Far remains a pillar of the pop-punk and alternative rock community. The balance between nostalgia and innovation in their setlist demonstrated their growth as artists while honoring their roots. The intimate yet vibrant atmosphere of the MGM Music Hall amplified the emotional connection between the band and their fans, making it a night to remember.

The Thanksgiving Eve show was more than just a concert—it was a celebration of music and community, drawing together fans and bands alike in an unforgettable shared experience. If this tour stop is any indication, The Story So Far continues to solidify their legacy as one of the most influential bands in modern punk rock.
